Breed: Basenji

The Basenji originated in Central Africa.
The breed is at least 300 years old.
Basenji were first exported in the 1930s.
They were bred to hunt vermin.
The Basenji has a square frame, about 16-17 inches high at the withers.
Basenji weigh about 20-24 pounds.
They have upright ears, a curled tail, and a questioning look and wrinkled brow.
Their coat is short and sleek. It is black and white, tan and white, occasional tricolor.
Basenji are clean, they can groom themselves like a cat. They don't require much effort to groom or brush.
The Basenji doesn't bark but has a yodel-type cry.
The Basenji does not need an excessive amount of exercise.
Basenji are curious, intelligent, and affectionate dogs.
