Sirius of the Week for Aug. 26 - Sept. 1, 2001

This is Tycho, a 3 year-old Old English Sheepdog. She weighs 85 pounds and has a lot of favorite foods. Salmon, tuna, carrots, and peas are probably the ones she gets most excited about. Her favorite toy is a lambswool stuffed snowman that has a plastic head with a musical chip in it. It sings Jingle Bells, and she loves it. It's her baby; she takes it everywhere with her and tucks it in the bed at night.

She's a great guard dog; very protective of her 'Mommy' and 'Daddy' --especially of other dogs. She does love to play with other dogs, though. She adores children; they're the right size for her --same height. Of course, she's a bit spoiled, but her humans can't help it sometimes. She's just so cute!

Tycho's natural herding instinct is very strong . Her human mom's parents' next door neighbors have four young children who were out playing ball while Tycho and her mom were there for a visit once. Tycho raced outside to play with the children, and she had them herded into a group and was circling around them to keep them together. She also loves to play with other dogs and try to round them into a corner.

In the mornings, if the alarm has gone off and her humans are not up, Tycho will jump onto the bed and sit on top of one of them and lick their faces until someone gets up to take her for a walk. She definitely knows how to get what she wants!
