Sirius of the Week for June 1 - 7, 2008
Our star this week is Tinker Belle, who lives in Sherwood, Michigan,
and her person-mom says,
"I am proudly owned by my boxer/lab mix, Ms. Tinker Belle. Tinker came into
our lives so unexpectedly. I was working in Texas after hurricanes Katrina
and Rita as an insurance adjuster. After 2 weeks of hearing a dog crying
every night, I looked over the fence of my friend's yard into the
neighbor's to see a little
puppy craving attention. She was so skinny and needed some TLC. I waited
for the neighbor's young son to come home from work. He got his mom and
translated for me. I offered them $100 for the little pup in the yard.
As he spoke with her, I was getting the impression my offer would be
declined. To my surprise they told me they didn't want the money, AND they
didn't want the dog either! She was mine.
I immediately got her out of the yard and took her to the local vet. She
was malnourished and starving for attention. I fed her all she could eat
for a few days and showered her with toys and love. She went to work with
me every day for the next 3 weeks.
That night I called my husband in Michigan and told him to expect a new baby
when I got home. Hahaha... he knew I'd found another furbaby to add to our
already 3 dog, 1 cat family. Tinker, as we call her, has been to work with
me almost everyday for the last 2 and a half years. She loves people and
has earned her Canine Good Citizen certification. She also competes in
agility and loves obedience. She is a gem and my best friend. She is my
shining star!"
