Sirius of the Week for December 25 - 31, 2005

Our Sirius this week is Sender -- her full name is Senderling Belle of Westwind, and she is a 5 year old Golden Retriever.

Her person mom writes,

"When we lost our Sheltie, we started looking for another dog. We were going to wait until the summer so I would have more time to be with her, since I work at an elementary school, but things don't always happen as planned. I saw an ad on the local TV for a new litter of goldens and it was just down the road from our house. My husband and I went to look at the pups. Since we had lost one dog, I was determined not to love a new one as much.

"The puppy we were drawn to was one of the biggest in the litter and the most adventurous. We came home, in January, with a new puppy. Winter is not a good time to house train a puppy but we took her out in sleet and snow until she got the idea. Sender had many allergy issues and it took a good while to get them under control. Now she is on a special diet and is doing great. Her favorite food treat is parmesan cheese.

Sender's favorite activity is playing in water. She loves to play in the sprinkler with our niece and nephew. Her favorite "guilty pleasure" is tearing up paper (napkins, Kleenex, paper towels) and hiding under the kitchen table (see below). After 5 years, the puppy I vowed not to love "too much" has my heart in her paws."
