"'Tonya of Seppala' is her name! She's ten years old in November, and
Tonya has done it all. To start with, she's her Boss' constant sidekick and
Number One 'Girlfriend'; add to that, she's the best lead dog out of
sixty Seppala Siberian Sleddogs at Seppala Kennels in the Yukon Territory, Canada.
"Tonya has travelled thousands of miles through the Yukon wilderness,
leading an eight-dog team on trails up to thirty miles long. She covers a
thirty-mile trail in about two and a half hours usually. The photo
below shows her with her understudy Lizzy.

"She has had a couple of litters in her career, as well, just to round
out her accomplishments. Tonya regards the Boss' 3/4 ton Dodge Ram 4wd
pickup as her own personal limo, and sits in the driver's seat with her chin
rested on the steering wheel, guarding 'her truck' whenever it's parked
in downtown Whitehorse. Most of all, though, she's just one of the best
friends an old guy ever had. Arrogant, proud, aloof, Alpha -- yes! But a
