Sirius of the Week for May 21 - 27, 2000

This is Bardriaan's Choir Boy, a male Scottish Terrier, and the fifth Terrier in our series. Bardriaan is from South Africa of American and British lines and he is 18 months old. He has 10 points and 1 Major toward being a champion. He won the Best of Breed at the Mason and Dixon show.

Bardriaan is a dog with a happy disposition who is very affectionate with his people. He also gets along well with the other dogs in his house (a Kerry Blue Terrier and another Scottie). Bardriaan takes things in his stride. But he is still always ready to be a terrier.

He is being trained in agility which means he is learning to run an obstacle course. He loves it and takes the obstacles agressively. He is also an "earth dog" which means he competes at "hunting" rats. The rats are kept safely in cages, but are put in tunnels while in the cages. The dogs have to find the rats, go down in the tunnels, and bark at them.

Bardriaan is a wheaten-colored Scottie. They also can be all black or brindled. Scotties make good pets for someone who understands them and can handle them. After all, Scotties may be small, but they are rugged and powerful, often independent and not docile. They have the nickname of the "Diehard."
