Sirius of the Week for April 2 - 8, 2000.

Ginger is an 80 pound Boxer. She is about 8 1/2 years old and has lived with her family since she was a puppy.

Ginger will happily eat anything, including fruit -- even grapefruit, but she doesn't like to eat when she is home by herself, so she'll wait until someone gets home. Ginger also misses her sister Carissa terribly when she goes to school; Ginger will wait, with her chin on the windowsill, looking for Carissa to come home.

Ginger is very friendly and has a good disposition. She loves kids in general, not just her sister. Ginger loves to play fetch and to go out in the snow. She is also well behaved in the house and doesn't chew on anything.

She sleeps next to the bed at night -- she would sleep on the bed if she were allowed. One time when her grandmother was taking a nap, Ginger hopped up and stretched out alongside. At first her grandmother didn't realize it was Ginger and wondered who had decided to take a nap with her.

Ginger is also very protective. She will bark to alert her family if there is a stranger approaching and her hair will stand up on her back, making her look fierce.
