Sirius of the Week for June 2 - 8, 2002

This is Meghan Irish Myst... (Her humans usually get misted every time she sneezes!!)

Photo Copyright T. De Luca

Her person-dad writes,

"She is a 2 year old Irish Terrier, full of leprechaun fun and mischief (and 1 very cold wet nose!!). She weighs in at 31 pounds and is 18 inches high so she easily fits in the shower with her us (thank goodness!!) This is an incredible breed of dog! Irish Terrier's have no breed specific generic defects in America, and they do not shed. Being a terrier, she is always alert and on the hunt for small game and birds, however she uncannily seems to know the difference between small PETS and small PESTS!

"Meg has earned herself the AKC titles of CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and CD (Companion Dog) last year, holding the highest average Novice A score of 186 out of all Irish Terrier's competing in Americia in 2001. She is currently practicing for Open and Agility competitions.

"She's a very fun dog to be around and goes with us everyplace dogs are accepted! The Irish Terrier is famous for their "reckless pluck" that would place them in harm's way without a second thought to their own safety. They are lively and quick to protect their family from any danger, and are forever loyal protectors to their family and especially children.

"One of the oldest recorded terrier breeds in the world, the Irish Terrier is typically aggressive towards other dogs, with a strong need to be top alpha dog in the pack, but somehow no one told that to Meghan. On any given weekend you can find her at dog beach, or playing at dog park. A true joy to have around. We love the tar outa this animal, and boy does she love us back!!! :)"
