Welcome to the Sirius of the Week for November 14 - 20, 1999.
Matthew is a neutered 3 year old JRTCA registered Jack Russell Terrier.
He weighs roughly l5 lbs and is 13 1/2 inches tall at the shoulder.
For a JR he is unusually mellow--loving most to snuggle beside his
person-mom (Linda) in a chair or under the covers at night.
His absolute favorite game is "Teddy", which involves chasing an old
sock (originally a small teddy bear, hence the name) tied onto the
end of a lounge whip. When he catches it he will play tug-of-war,
refusing to let go even when swung far off the ground. As with all
JRs, Matthew is quick to learn new tricks and games, which he loves
to perform in exchange for dog biscuits. He has a wonderful
disposition and is great with children of all ages.
(This picture shows Matthew when still a puppy.)
Here he is relaxing with his person-dad after a hard day's work:
A Dog's Life
Cool at the pool! Matthew and friends have some fun!
We think we want to go for a swim... but do we?
Yes! We do!
Get the rubber rat!
In January of 2008, Matthew passed away due to a tumor on his heart. His
people wanted to share this tribute to him:
"In loving memory of our friend Matthew.
More than most JR's and other dogs we have known, he was entirely
attached to
us and loved nothing more than snuggling down to spend quality time
while we
read, watched TV, napped, or even worked on the computer. Naturally,
being
a Jack Russell, he was also always up for a "drag" (walk to get the
paper),
hike, or other outdoor adventure as well.
Matthew had a special sweetness of spirit. His passing has left a
huge
hole in our hearts, but we were lucky to have had him in our lives for
nearly twelve years and we'll cherish thoughts of him forever."
